Māori trusts and incorporations, iwi, hapū
We provide culturally responsive independent research, analysis and evaluation, evidence for court hearings, ethnographic interviewing and record, assistance with community and stakeholder engagement, and Treaty of Waitangi and government advisory.
Tuatinitini offers tailored research and consultancy services to trusts and incorporations, iwi, hapū and other Māori organisations seeking to advance their social, economic, and cultural interests. We recognise the unique challenges and aspirations of these entities and are dedicated to providing support for their self-determination and empowerment.
Having worked with and for Māori individuals and organisations for over 35 years, we have gained valuable insights into matters of cultural importance, including the history of Crown interactions which have shaped the experiences, expectations, aspirations and values of many Māori today.
Our consultancy collaborates closely with Māori groups to understand their specific priorities, values, and aspirations. We provide research to promote economic development and where appropriate record cultural experiences, knowledge, practices and values collaboratively with respect and dignity.
From conducting historical and contemporary research for the High Court and Waitangi Tribunal, and supporting Treaty settlement negotiations, to facilitating informed growth and assisting with community engagement and record, Tuatinitini works hand-in-hand with Māori groups to achieve positive outcomes for their members and communities, while upholding the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Tuatinitini is uniquely based in Taitokerau, and available for focused work specifically in and around Taitokerau, throughout Aotearoa, and in national and international studies and collaborations concerning social issues which may be of relevance to Māori groups.
