Our research and advisory services include

Independent qualitative research, analysis and evaluation of diverse social and cultural topics

We conduct qualitative research on a wide range of social, cultural, and environmental issues, providing independent and insightful analysis and evaluation throughout Aotearoa for:

  • Māori trusts and incorporations, iwi and hapū

  • central and local government

  • the courts and commissions of inquiry

  • research institutes and organisations

  • industries and larger businesses.

We also partner with other consultancies wherever we can provide unique expertise, and contribute to national and international studies concerning social issues.

Accessing multidisciplinary and grassroots knowledge, ideas and perspectives

Our approach combines multidisciplinary research, expertise and academic excellence with community insights and expert knowledge, addressing complex issues from multiple angles to gain comprehensive and well-informed perspectives for evaluation, analysis and advice.

Identification, elucidation and analysis of complex issues and innovative thinking

We excel in analysing detailed, multifaceted or complex issues and information, providing in-depth interpretation, offering clarity and insights, and approaching problems with creativity and innovation to promote sustainable development, social justice, and cultural revitalization.

Evidence-based Treaty research, analysis and expertise

With a deep understanding of Treaty issues developed over 35 years, we navigate legal and cultural considerations with knowledge and expertise, and offer continuing work providing evidence for various courts within Aotearoa, and for the Waitangi Tribunal and other commissions of inquiry. With this broad knowledge base, we have a keen appreciation for contemporary Treaty application in today's world.

In depth interviewing, inclusive consultation and engagement

We engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs, priorities and aspirations, ensuring that our advice is informed by specific knowledge and community values, including relevant cultural, social and environmental considerations. We respect and celebrate cultural differences and have a core interest in social justice for those who are less likely to be heard or taken into account. We seek to ensure that under-represented voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

Future-focused direction and innovative advice

We prioritize social well-being and environmental sustainability, aspiring to contribute to a better future for all.
